The Hinckley Pool is conveniently located with the Hinckley-Finlayson High School on 201 Main Street East in Hinckley.  Enter on the south side of the school at doors marked POOL (Door 9).  There is a parking lot located across the street or you can park  in front of the school on Main Street on weekends.

Morning Swim (Mon & Wed) 5:45-7:30 am -

Take a lane and do your morning exercise, be it aerobics or on your own or lap swimming.  Open to ages 18 and older.
No morning swimming on days when there is no school.  
Cost: $1.25 or use a punch card 5/$5.00



Afternoon Swim (Monday-Thursday) 3:30 - 4:30 pm

HINCKLEY POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
  1. Children must be 48" in height to swim in the pool. If the child does not meet the minimum height, a parent must accompany child in pool and the child must be no more than an arms length away from parent in the shallow end of the pool.
  2. Swimming is by the session. There is a 10-minute pool break every hour.  Everyone will be directed out of the pool during the pool break.
  3. Showers are required before entering the pool.
  4. Only bathing suits may be worn in the pool, no cut-offs. Swimmers must furnish their own towel and suit. 
  5. Absolutely no swimming without lifeguard on duty.
  6. No running on deck. No horseplay in or around pool area or locker.
  7. Patrons are allowed to use own fins, snorkels and goggles.  Poo, has limited amount of life jackets.
  8. All diving should be straight ahead.
  9. No gum or food in pool area.
  10. No band-aids, jewelry, etc., in pool.
  11. Violation of these rules, horseplay, and/or disobeying lifeguard's direction will subject person to immediate suspension from facilities without refund.
  12. No street shoes are allowed on deck.
  13. A swim test must be completed by youth prior to being allowed into the deep end.

Know your limitations...If you know you can’t swim in the deep end, have fun and be safe in the shallower water.  There are a few life jackets available.

Swim Lessons are offered at the Hinckley Pool.  We have two choices available.  Lessons by level or by semi-private lessons which are by "family groups".  Register early to guarantee a spot.

Summer Swim Lessons will be sent out in May.  But to plan ahead lessons will be the following weeks.

June 14-24 (Mon-Thu)
July 12-22 (Mon- Thu)
July 26-30 (Mon- Fri)
Private lessons will be arranged with instructor.

We still hope to have a set of lessons in May when college students return home. Join our mailing list so we can let you know if we are able to have classes.

Lifeguard Training

This course trains lifeguards to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations both in and out of the water. Topics include: water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies, CPR, AED and more. 

Participants must demonstrate a professional attitude and mature behavior, be prepared for all class activities, including appropriate swimwear for all in-water skill session. Complete reading assignments. Behave appropriately during activities. Make an effort to improve skills during practice sessions. Treat others with respect. Follow all pool safety rules and any additional safety precautions as explained throughout the course. 

Students needing Waterfront component must identify that on registration and will at the Pine City beach later in the year as it includes some skills that can’t be done at the pool. Prerequisites found on back of this flyer.  Cost includes:  Instruction, Red Cross Fee, CPR Mask/Whistle/Fanny Pack, and textbook.  (If you digitally, download your book a $25 discount will be given at the time of the class.)
The prerequisite skills evaluation will occur on the first day of the course. Please bring a swimsuit and towel everyday for class.

To successfully complete the course, you must attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent.  Participants must be 15 years old by the conclusion of class Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an electronic American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/ First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years. Please make sure you have a valid email listed on registration form.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) (Blended Learning)
Earn your certification to teach American Red Cross swimming and water safety, and gain the skills needed to teach courses and make presentations to swimmers of every age and ability. Through our WSI program, you can help recreational swimmers meet their goals, refine their skills and stay safe in, on, and around water.

  • Water safety at public pools, homes, natural bodies of water and more, including the Circle of Drowning Prevention and Chain of Drowning Survival.
  • Hydrodynamics, including why some things float, resistance to movement and creating movement in water, swimming efficiency and laws of levers.
  • Basic safety, survival and swimming skills to help children gain water competency.
  • Helping people with disabilities and other health conditions enjoy the water safely.
  • Higher-level swim skills that help prepare people of all ages for any aquatic activity.
  • Stroke mechanics for all competitive strokes as well as starts, turns and headfirst entries.
  • Fundamentals of diving from a diving board.
  • Aquatic fitness and training for people of any age.
Note: In order to participate in the Water Safety Instructor certification classes, participants must be at least 16 years of age by the end of the course.

            Your Red Cross Fees ($39) will be paid when you register and complete the online portion.


​American Red Cross Lifeguarding Review

The Lifeguard Review course is designed to review all of the lifeguarding skills and core knowledge points required to recertify in lifeguarding. Topics covered in the course include patron surveillance, rescue skills, victim assessment, First Aid, CPR-AED, and care for head, neck and spinal injuries.  Cost includes your red cross fee.

Date:    Sundays, May 16 & 23
Time:  5:00-9:00 pm

The Hinckley Pool is available for private rentals.
Fees for a two hour swim session:
Groups of 30 or less       $ 75.00
Groups of more than 30 $100.00 - Large groups are not available at this time due to Covid restrictions.
+MN sales tax unless group is non-profit.
